Become a volunteer driver?
Our volunteer drivers provide an essential transport service for people who have difficulty using public transport and helps to improve their health and wellbeing.
"I've been volunteering for seven years and make myself available to take trips at any time during the week. I get to meet new people whilst feeling that I am doing something useful. It also makes me feel better about my own self."
– Anne Richards
Overview
The Scheme would not be able to operate without our volunteers who give their time and support freely as drivers or to answer phones and book appointments. With the ever increasing demand for this service in our community, SCVS is always looking for more volunteers.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer driver you will need;
- A clean, full UK driving licence
- Two references
- Your own suitable vehicle
- Evidence that your insurance company has been informed
-
Current valid MOT certificate for your vehicle
We will then arrange a DBS (Disclosing and Barring Scheme) check
By becoming one of our Volunteer Drivers or Volunteer Escorts you will be providing an invaluable service both to our clients and the local community.
