SWALE VOLUNTEER CENTRE
Swale Volunteer Centre aims to enhance the community in Swale by making volunteering easy. We do this by promoting, supporting and developing volunteering and active citizenship. Our staff team encourages individuals wishing to volunteer and also supports organisations seeking to recruit volunteers.

Overview
Swale Volunteer Centre, as an accredited volunteer centre through NCVO (formerly Volunteering England), works to achieve the 6 national core functions:
- Brokerage
- Developing Volunteering Opportunities
- Good Practice Development
- Strategic Development of Volunteering
- Voice of Volunteering
As a volunteer centre we:
Place volunteers in a variety of voluntary roles
Hold one to one exploratory interviews
Provide information to potential volunteers
Explain the relevant procedures required to secure a placement e.g. provide references, Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) checks
Promote voluntary work within the local community
On information boards within our own offices and in local establishments
By holding presentations at local events and to local organisations and statutory bodies e.g schools
Develop new volunteering opportunities
Keep abreast of new initiatives
Help organisations explore different options
Promote new opportunities for organisations
Listen and adapt to new ideas from potential volunteers
Support organisations:
Assist with recruiting volunteers and developing opportunities
Provide volunteer management training and support on inducting volunteers
Provide an information pack on inducting volunteers
Help with writing policies
Liaise with other statutory, voluntary and private sector bodies:
Raise issues at SCEN meetings
Hold meetings with other Volunteer Centres in East Kent as part of the Volunteer Centres East Kent partnership
Attend meetings with the Kent Medway Infrastructure Partnership (KMIP) with all CVS and Volunteer Centres across Kent
Liaise with Swale Borough Council and Kent County Council
